FAQ
Does this replace the factory rear freeze plug? No—this is a retaining plate that holds the existing rear plug in place. If the plug is missing or leaking, replace the plug first, then add this plate for insurance.
Will I need to drain coolant?
Typically no, because you are not removing the OE rear plug when using a retaining plate. Draining may be required if you also service other cooling components.
When should I install it?
Any time the transmission is out—clutch, transmission, or rear main seal service—so you have easy access to the rear of the block.
Is this okay for stock trucks?
Yes. It’s inexpensive protection for stock to high-power builds, especially those that tow, sled pull, or see extended high RPM.
