Overview: The FASS XWS-3002-XL Extended Length Extreme Water Separator is a 2-micron absolute hydroglass filter that captures water within the element—no drain needed. It MUST be paired with the PF-3001XL particulate filter. On updated systems, install the XWS-3002-XL on the pressure side and the PF-3001XL on the suction side.
Fitment
- For use with FASS: Titanium Signature Series, Titanium Series, Industrial Series, Competition Series, and Drop-In Series systems.
- Incompatible with legacy filter combos FF-3003/FF-3010 or FS-1001/FS-1020.
- Need shorter filter body due to clearance? See standard length XWS-3002 (linked below).
Installation Instructions
- Shut engine OFF and allow system to depressurize. Place a drain pan under the filter heads.
- Remove old filters. Clean filter head sealing surfaces.
- Lightly oil the new gasket. Install PF-3001XL on the suction side and hand-tighten until gasket contacts, then turn an additional 3/4 turn.
- Install XWS-3002-XL on the pressure side and tighten as above. Do not pre-fill; the system will prime itself.
- Prime the system by key-cycling the pump several times until it runs smoothly and fuel flow sounds consistent. Check for leaks. Start engine and recheck.

What makes the XWS-3002-XL different from the standard XWS-3002?
The XL version uses a longer canister with more media for extended service intervals and the same 2-micron absolute water separation performance. If clearance is tight, the standard-length XWS-3002 may be a better fit (linked above).
Do I still need to drain this water separator?
No. The element traps water internally—there is no drain on this design. Replace at the recommended interval or when restriction indicates.
Which side of the pump gets the XWS-3002-XL?
Install the XWS-3002-XL on the pressure side and the PF-3001XL on the suction side on updated systems.
Can I mix this filter with older FF/FS filters?
