The BD DIESEL 1064174F Towmaster 47RE Transmission is built to correct the common weak points of the factory 47RE and deliver stronger towing reliability for 1998.5–1999 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins 24-valve 4WD trucks. The stock 47RE transmission was designed for factory power levels and light-duty use — but under towing, heat, and daily workload, clutch slip and hydraulic pressure loss become major failure points. The Towmaster package upgrades internal durability, improves lubrication circuits, and increases line pressure to help the transmission hold power and stay alive under real diesel use.
This Towmaster transmission includes an upgraded valve body for firmer clutch apply and improved shift control, along with key internal upgrades such as drilled intermediate shaft lubrication improvements and rollerized thrust bearing conversion to reduce heat and friction. Every BD Diesel transmission is dyno-tested to verify hydraulic performance and shift function prior to shipping. This is a freight item and a refundable core charge applies.
