The BD DIESEL 1036754 E-PAS Positive Air Shut-Off is a critical safety device designed to protect 2008–2010 Ford 6.4L Power Stroke engines from catastrophic damage caused by diesel runaway. In a runaway event, the engine continues to accelerate uncontrollably—even with the ignition turned off—often due to oil ingestion or turbo failure. The E-PAS system immediately shuts off intake airflow, stopping the engine before damage occurs.
Unlike fuel-based shutdown methods, which are ineffective during oil-fueled runaway conditions, the E-PAS system cuts off the engine’s air supply— the only guaranteed way to stop uncontrolled overspeed. The valve is normally open for unrestricted airflow during normal operation and closes instantly when activated, protecting the engine, turbocharger, and drivetrain.
