COMPETITION ROD BEARINGS

Competition rod bearings are specially designed for high-performance engines used in racing and other competitive events. The H and HX Clevite bearings are particularly well-suited for NASCAR type racing but can also be used in all types of competition engines.

The H series bearings feature a medium level of eccentricity, high crush, and a hardened steel back with a thin overlay. They are designed with enlarged chamfers to provide greater crankshaft fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for improved seating. On the other hand, the HX series bearings offer an extra .001" of clearance.

One of the key advantages of using coated bearings is their ability to prevent damage during cold starts and instances of oil starvation. The dry film lubricant coating acts as a protective barrier between the bearing surface and the crank journal, reducing friction and extending the life of both components. The special coating, which includes moly and other ingredients, helps to retain oil rather than repel it.

Originally developed for race engines, these coated bearings are now commonly used in street and daily-use vehicles to increase engine durability. Some of the products in this category include MAHLE CB-1873H Engine Connecting Rod Bearing (H-Series) and MAHLE CB-1873HX Engine Connecting Rod Bearing (H-Series-Extra Clearance), both designed for specific engine models like the 5.9L/6.7L Cummins. Upgrade your engine with competition rod bearings for improved performance and longevity in high-stress conditions.
