Helpful Notes
- Fire-ring builds require precision machine work. Have a qualified shop cut receiver grooves to the listed depth and concentricity.
- Always verify piston-to-head and valve-to-piston clearances when increasing clamp load and boost.
- Re-torque per stud manufacturer’s procedure with quality assembly lube.
FAQ
Will this work with a stock (non-machined) head? No. Fire-ring gaskets require a head and/or block cut for receiver grooves per the 4.550" spec. Use a standard gasket like the MAHLE 4068C if you are not fire-ringing.
Do I have to run head studs?Yes. Industrial Injection specifies not to use factory head bolts. We recommend ARP 247-4203 or ARP 247-4205 (625+) depending on the power level.
What boost level is this kit for?Fire-ring setups are typically chosen for high boost/high cylinder pressure builds (big single or compounds, heavy fueling). Consult your engine builder for suitability and machining strategy.
Do you offer a version for 24-valve engines?Yes — see our 1998.5–2002 24V Fire Ring kit listed above in Recommended Parts.
