Description

The CPP Diesel 6BT "Takeout" Crate Engine is a reliable and budget-friendly option for your diesel engine swap project. These 12V 6BT takeout engines come with P7100 injection pumps, providing optimal performance. Lightly used and featuring low mileage, these engines have been professionally tuned to ensure they are in excellent working condition.

Included with a 90-day warranty, these takeout engines are thoroughly inspected and run before shipment. They are conversion-ready with accessories and are sourced from 94-98 Ram trucks. The P7100 injection pump is standard unless you request a VE pump.

For added convenience and customization, customers can request upgrades such as turbo, injectors, increased timing, or oring head, among other options. If desired, the engines can be equipped with FASS fuel systems, ensuring proper fuel delivery.

Prior to shipping, each engine undergoes a detailed inspection process where the tappet cover is regasketed, timing is set up to 17 degrees, the killer dowel pin is tabbed, and the turbo, injectors, and pump are checked for optimal function. For those choosing orings, the head is flattened and oringed to specification for improved performance.

Understanding Available Upgrades

 

Head Studs

  • ARP 2000 are great for the average street trucks up to 80psi boost
  • ARP 625 are for over 80-150psi boost
  • ARP 14mm studs are for full competition Engines

 

Connecting Rods

  • CPP Hardened Rods for up to 1500hp
  • Billet Rods are for over 1500hp

****The biggest failure in the 03-18 Cummins engines is the Connecting rods which are a cracked cap powdered rod. We recommend upgrading your rods and we do not warranty a rod failure if you choose to keep factory rods on any 03-18 Commonrail engine. This is a well known problem with these engines.

 

O-Rings and Fire Rings

  • ORINGS- We recommend using orings on any 89-02 Cummins 5.9L engine over 450hp or 35psi boost. The O-rings must be used with head studs and can not be ran with factory bolts.
  • Fire Rings - We recommend fire Rings for competition only. They require too much maintenance for daily street trucks. 

****We do not recommend using any O-ring or Fire Ring on 03-18 Cummins engines under 1300hp or 80psi boost. The factory Multi-layer steel gasket with a good set of 625 head studs is all you need. Don't worry, we have been doing this for 15 years and have hundreds of engines running no rings and we have zero issues. 

Valve Springs

  • Stock Springs - These are good for those running stock rpm and stock boost but we recommend upgrading with any rpm increase or boost psi over 35psi or we have seen piston to valve contact
  • 103 Springs - These are great up to 4500rpm or 75psi boost. We have seen piston to valve contact on engines running larger than stock cams and higher boost numbers.
  • 115 Springs - These are great for up to 5500rpm and 120psi boost. 

 

Port/Polish

  • Stock Head - Great for up to 800hp
  • Port Exhaust Side - We do the exhaust side porting and intakes valves at the valve for increased flow and high velocity for up to 1300hp
  • Port and milled intake - This is for engines wanting over 1300hp and competition use. We will contact you to talk about your setup and what we recommend doing for your custom head. We also offer larger valves and more for extreme competition engines.

****Porting is not the same for every engine. We custom match head flow to your setup and use. Call for details 724-785-4022

 

Camshaft Upgrades

  • Stock cam - Cummins knows cams and these work great but they did leave a little meat on the bone when it comes to Horsepower
  • 178/208 - Great cam for off the line pulling power. Really shines down low coming off idle. 
  • 188/220 - Great cam for off the line pulling power but slightly higher rpm than the 178. This cam is great from idle to 4500rpm

****We also offer larger cams and custom cuts but the ramp on larger cams is more aggressive and we have found that when street driven, they are much harder on springs and moving parts and we do not recommend them for daily driving. Call to discuss if you require larger cams. We have seen 250-300 degree drops in egts using the 178 or 188 cams and we highly recommend them. 

 

Girdle Upgrades

  • ARP Mains and rods - For those wanting increased reliability or plan to run over 750hp or 60psi boost. 
  • Girdle Upgrade - For engines over 800hp, we recommend running a girdle to keep the main caps from walking which causes premature failure. 

****We have other girdles available, just call to order.

 

Pushrods

  • Stock pushrods- These are good for stock trucks and we have noticed them to start deflecting after 45psi boost
  • Hamilton and D&J - A must have for engines over 45psi

 

Shipping 

  • We use T-Force freight but we are open to ship however you would like. You can also pick up your engine at CPP.
