CPP 6BT Takeout Crate Engine for 1989–1998 Dodge Ram
The CPP Diesel Cummins 12-Valve 6BT "Takeout" Crate Engine is a reliable and budget-friendly solution for your diesel swap project. These lightly used 12V 6BT takeout engines come with P7100 injection pumps for optimal performance and long service life.
Each engine is professionally tuned, inspected, and run-tested prior to shipment. They include a 1-year warranty and are sourced directly from 1994–1998 Dodge Ram trucks. P7100 injection pumps come standard unless you request a VE pump.

Inspection & Testing
Every CPP Diesel takeout engine is carefully inspected, cleaned, painted, and test-run on a stand before shipping. We verify compression, injector, pump, and turbo function for proper operation. Engines are hand-selected and checked for blow-by, bearing wear, and leaks before being approved for sale.
Availability & Lead Time
These engines are not off-the-shelf products. We must locate, remove, inspect, and prepare each engine to order. Availability fluctuates based on sourcing and customization delays. Due to high demand, extended wait times may apply. Please check with us before placing your order to confirm lead time.
Because each build is custom and scheduled, all sales are final. No cancellations or returns can be accepted once your build is in progress.

CPP Diesel can customize your 6BT crate engine to match your power goals or build requirements. Upgrades include turbochargers, injectors, fueling adjustments, timing changes, and fuel system improvements.
Head Studs
- ARP 2000: Ideal for street trucks up to 80 PSI boost.
- ARP 625: Designed for 80–150 PSI boost applications.
Valve Springs
- Stock Springs: Fine for stock RPM and boost; upgrade if exceeding 35 PSI.
- 165# Springs: Recommended up to 4500 RPM / 75 PSI boost.
- Dual Springs: Suitable up to 5500 RPM / 120 PSI boost.
Delivery Valves
- Hot Street Delivery Valves: Balanced for daily drivability and towing, yet deliver strong pre-boost fueling response — our top-selling street setup.
Fuel System
- FASS Fuel System (optional): Ensures steady pressure and filtration for performance or towing builds.
Shipping
We primarily use T-Force Freight, but can accommodate your preferred carrier. Engines are palletized, wrapped, and shipped with liftgate or dock options as needed. Local pickup is available at our CPP Diesel facility.
