The BD DIESEL 1064194F TowMaster 48RE Transmission is a heavy-duty, upgraded drop-in replacement transmission built specifically for 2003–2004 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins 4WD applications. The factory 48RE is capable in stock form, but towing, added power, heat, and heavy commercial use quickly expose its weak points. BD’s TowMaster transmission is engineered to deliver stronger clutch holding power, improved hydraulic control, and long-term towing reliability.
This TowMaster unit includes a performance valve body with increased line pressure (190–200 PSI), upgraded governor components, improved lubrication circuits, and added clutch capacity to prevent slip, flare, and heat-related failures. Every transmission is dyno tested before shipping, and it includes BD’s heavy-duty aluminum transmission pan with additional capacity and cooling fins to help manage temperatures under load. A refundable core charge applies.
