The BD DIESEL 1036771 E-PAS Positive Air Shut-Off Heavy Duty is a purpose-built safety device designed for Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15, and DD16 engines (2008–2023). In rare cases of diesel engine runaway — such as when external hydrocarbons enter the engine intake and cause dangerous overspeeding — the E-PAS system acts like a “fire extinguisher” for your power plant by closing off the intake air supply and safely shutting down the engine before catastrophic damage can occur.
The E-PAS unit controls the electronic throttle body in the intake manifold to quickly and reliably limit air flow in emergency conditions. It installs with factory-style connectors and a pre-made wiring harness, and the system automatically resets after activation. Designed for heavy-duty use, the E-PAS can be installed in about 1–2 hours with basic hand tools and is easily removable for lease return or service.
